We live in a world where it’s easy to disconnect from our bodies.
To eat quickly, to ignore hunger, to forget where our food comes from.
But I believe the table is one of the most sacred places we can return to—again and again.
I’m Makayla. I’m a mother, a student of theology and ecology, and someone who believes that food is never just food. I’ve spent years exploring the connections between eating and ethics, science and spirituality, the body and the sacred. Here, at Holy Ground Collective, I’ll be writing about all the ways food forms us—how it nourishes and how it reveals.
You’ll find reflections on the theology of eating, food justice, and embodiment. You’ll also find recipes from our kitchen—meals that honor season, place, and care. I’m particularly interested in how nourishment can be a form of resistance and a spiritual practice all its own.
This isn’t a wellness blog. It’s a place to ask deeper questions:
Where does our food come from?
How does it shape our lives and relationships?
What does it mean to eat in a way that honors both body and earth?
Whether you’re a theologian, a curious eater, a parent trying to feed your family well, or someone seeking a more mindful way of living, you are welcome here.
Pull up a chair. Let’s reflect together.
